More Springboard Than Destination

Feeding a young child's developing brain with rich, complex musical concepts, aural training, and rhythm training is what Let's Play Music is all about.  It's true, that a Let's Play Music graduate who has mastered the lessons can play major scales, name and play chords and their inversions, play in parallel and contrary motion, sing in harmony, accompany themselves on the piano, find middle C in their minds, transpose music, and compose music.  Yet, we sometimes mistakingly believe a young graduate has reached the summit with all these things he or she can DO.  In truth, it is what young graduates KNOW when they graduate from Let's Play Music that is the vehicle for them to soar to stunning heights.

Some key teaching philosophies of Let's Play Music are that experience precedes learning and that children learn by doing.  Utilizing these philosophies throughout the Let's Play Music curriculum, songs, games, and piano skills are introduced to facilitate the learning of musically complex concepts and high level theory.  A young child who has received the 3 year investment of Let's Play Music is ready to progress with a private piano teacher* who will utilize and develop the fertile music foundation INSIDE the budding musician and polish the skills that spring therefrom.  What an exciting unfolding that will be!

*Selecting a piano teacher who understands Let's Play Music smooths the transition to private lessons for young graduates.  Read more about the LPM endorsement or find an endorsed teacher on the Connections site, here.
