2011 Symposium Highlights

I just returned* from the 2011 Symposium (woot! woot!) where exciting additions to the 2nd and 3rd year curriculums were announced, including:
  • Experiencing chord inversions during the second year in preparation for reading and playing them during the third year
  • Solidifying pitch relationships and increasing agility during the Orange Roots semester
  • Transitioning from internalized bug rhythms to counting skills with a NEW song and NEW activities
  • Introducing key names now during the Green Turtles semester through the new 3rd Kit Kat Keyboard verse
  • Increasing dictation skills during the Purple Magic and Orange Roots semesters through more focused activities and experiences
Can you feel the energy?!  I LOVE how these additions further develop the overall Let's Play Music goal: building a complete musician through Music Internalization, Music Literacy, and Technical Skill.  I can't wait to start teaching!

*I came home to happy children who had spent the day with my parents.  My mom even cut out ALL my 3rd year puppet shows!  Wow!  Thanks, Mom! =)

 Just in, photos by Cherie Mask of this year's Let's Play Music Symposium where I added training and charged my batteries.  Best of all, I LOVED networking with the many talented, charismatic LPM teachers. 2014 Recitals

We had a lovely recital.  Thank you to Mike and Melanie for opening your home to us. All the students performed their compositions with courage and polish.  Congratulations to each of you and your parents for your hard work and persistence! This was a fun day!  I'll miss such a fun group of kids and parents!  We've been together for three years.  I hope you'll keep in touch and let me know how your musicality unfolds in your life.  Special thanks to Jenette for our photoshoot!  Love, Mrs. Ros

Spring Recital Highlights

It has been about a month since our recital and I have LOVED watching and re-watching the expressions of concentration and happiness on these children's faces. I am proud of how respectfully our class stood on their blue dots. I love to see them anticipate the next character sound in the puppet show, jump right in with their Solfeg hand signs on "Are You Sleeping", and their enthusiasum to show their bug cards in the Bug Chant. Yay for our Jungle Rhythm! Enjoy the exerpts from our recital, but know I am a music teacher not a techie! Extra thanks to Marnie Christensen and Leslie Nelson, LPM teachers who collaborated with me on the recital. What a joy for me to work with them!
